1 more reason why I no longer participate in religion

I woke up today and read the news as I always do. Not sure why I torture myself with the news, but I do and I'm OK with it. This morning I came across this story:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/mar/04/vatican-gay-sex-scandal

This story didn't really surprise me, but it did make me think about something.

Why would anyone believe in this organization?

I asked myself this question numerous times and asked my friends and family, and no one had an answer? Even when I asked Catholics about this (most of which didn't even know the story existed) they had no answer. One answered this way "I pray to God not the Vatican". To which I asked "so why call yourself a Catholic then?". I got no answer to that. It just makes me think how many of us here on this planet blindly believe what we are told simply because we fear the consequences of questioning the norm or the status quot. Is that really anyway to live and experience life?
Not for me!

Some humans prefer to be sheep, to be lead somewhere even if that means their loss of freedom.
